Family Law Attorney
About Us: We are seeking a dedicated associate attorney to join our Family Law practice group. This role is based in Alabama and offers a unique opportunity to work closely with experienced shareholders and associates on a wide range of family law matters.
Position Overview: As a Family Law Attorney, you will handle cases involving divorce, child custody, spousal support, and other family-related legal issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family law, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to advocating for clients' best interests.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support clients in family law areas including divorce, equitable distribution of property and assets, alimony, spousal support, child custody, and adoption.
* Perform comprehensive legal research to support senior counsel and clients.
* Assist clients in resolving legal conflicts and determining the best course of action.
* Draft legal documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts.
* Help prepare expert reports and mediation statements.
* Represent clients in court appearances and prepare for trial including deposition preparation, discovery, and case preparation.
* File court documents and adhere to strict deadlines.
* Draft discovery documents and pleadings.
* Collaborate with clients and senior counsel to efficiently move cases toward resolution.
* Maintain and update client files for easy access.
* Work with senior counsel and marketing teams to develop the client base and meet billing requirements.
Qualifications:
* Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
* Active license to practice law in Alabama.
* Strong knowledge of family law statutes, regulations, and case law.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to handle sensitive and emotional issues with professionalism.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* 2-4 years of family law and trial experience in both common pleas and superior court.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with high-net-worth divorce cases or complex custody disputes.
* Familiarity with mediation and collaborative divorce processes.
* Previous experience in a family law firm or similar setting.
