Field Safety Coordinator
The Field Safety Coordinator administers the safety program on assigned projects, reporting to jobsites with field crews as required. This role is accountable to management and the Safety Director.
Responsibilities:
- Administer the company safety program on assigned projects, ensuring results.
- Clarify supervisor responsibilities and specific duties with field staff.
- Develop safe procedures for unusual or hazardous job operations.
- Regularly review project safety performance.
- Conduct daily inspections of work areas, equipment, fall protection gear, and paperwork.
- Document safety hazards and incidents using proprietary safety software.
- Investigate fatal or major catastrophes as needed.
- Evaluate crew members' safety performance and provide guidance.
- Correct unsafe conditions promptly or shut down the job.
- Maintain a strong field presence to observe and address unsafe acts and conditions.
- Conduct weekly safety inspections for employees and subcontractors.
- Cooperate with project management and safety director to ensure safe work operations.
- Attend safety meetings and initiate disciplinary procedures when necessary.
- Report and address unsafe acts or conditions on-site.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of construction experience
- OSHA 30 Hour certification
- First Aid/CPR training
- Reliable transportation
Skills:
- Organized and proactive
- Effective communication with construction workers
- Persuasive coaching abilities
- Familiarity with heavy construction tools and materials
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to observe job sites, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions
- Willingness to be on call for emergencies
- Use of phones, radios, and hand signals
- Driving to job site visits and meetings
