Position Summary



As the Project Manager with UCLA’s Government and Community Relations (GCR) team, you can utilize your creativity, resourcefulness and strong organization and planning skills while working collaboratively to advance the high-priority initiatives, projects and events of our office.  As part of the projects and events you manage, you will coordinate and execute logistics; develop and manage budgets, reconcile expenses, coordinate contact lists for events and mass mailings, interpret results and conduct appropriate follow up. In this role, you will be instrumental in assisting in program planning and development, administration, management and implementation and will also interpret, monitor and analyze information to ensure successful outcomes of the goals of GCR’s office. In addition, as our Project Manager, you will execute other approaches to bridge opportunities with partnership projects as well as collaboratively devise strategies for outreach and engagement to increase our overall presence and visibility.

Salary & Compensation

Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications



  • Minimum of three years of experience managing programs, projects and/or events preferably in a government or community relations office, a government agency or government/advocacy related environment. (Required)
  • Experience managing student interns. (Required)
  • Experience and familiarity with all logistical elements of event production, protocols, procedures; experience identifying, securing and working directly with vendors; negotiating/executing formal agreements. (Required)
  • Experienced in a variety of University office procedures and systems; working knowledge of university/campus policies, protocols and procedures. (Preferred)
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with demonstrated time and project management skills to work independently s part of a team in a complex environment; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines under minimal supervision. (Required)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build and expand cooperative, effective relationships with diverse internal and external constituents. (Required)
  • Resourceful and skilled in using judgment in situations requiring independent initiative. (Required)
  • Excellent verbal communications skills with ability to speak effectively to individuals and groups. (Required)
  • Outstanding writing skills to effectively communicate to a variety of audiences; experience creating reports, correspondence, presentations, invitations and other project and event related materials. (Required)
  • Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Ability to research, review, comprehend and organize materials and information and to identify more efficient methods of operation. (Required)
  • Ability to create, manage and track project and event budgets including skill in financial tracking and reconciling expenses; experience in analyzing and projecting trends and producing reports. (Required)
  • Demonstrated high level of personal integrity; diplomatic with ability to use discretion, maintain confidentiality and respond to stakeholder and/or constituent needs in a supportive professional manner with promptness and efficiency. (Required)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications; ability to learn new software/technologies in a prompt and efficient manner. (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

  • Ability to work some evenings and/or weekends as needed. (Required)
  • Ability to travel to off-site vendors and events during regular business hours, evenings and weekends in a timely manner; often with little advanced notice.
